The persona of Bohun and his clothes are not historical. They are taken from the appearance of this character in the film “With Fire and Sword” by J. Hoffman.

Horpyna is wearing the clothes of a Wallachian peasant woman. Women dressed in this manner can be found on late 17th century paintings from the so called Viseletkódex.

According to the so called Gołuchowska Table, some Polish soldiers wore gauntlets on left hand. Similar custom can be found among Western European cavalry.

Azya is wearing silk Tartar attire, quilted with cotton. The original is in the National Museum in Kraków and according to tradition belonged to hetman Żółkiewski.

During the excavations at the site of one of the largest battles of the 17th century – at Berestechko (1651) remains of long firearms with early flintlocks, of the so called Muscovite type, were found. This type of primitive firearms usually had a caliber of about 10mm (for small game hunting) and 14-16mm (for big game hunting).
