Thugs are perfect cannon fodder. They are cheap, fight relatively well and can also provide you Connections required to hire mercenaries.

No one feels more at home in the dark alleys of Vienna than they do!

FOOTMEN

FOOTMEN

If you want to strengthen your band’s fighting power at a low cost, Footmen will be an excellent choice.

Thanks to the breastplates and helmets Footmen can survive hits which could kill other characters.

Long glaives provides them advantage in close combat and pistols allow them to fight from distance.

PEASANTS

PEASANTS

Peasants are the less expensive characters in the whole universe of Anno Domini 1666, so by hiring them for your band you can keep both high number of activations and many powerful (so expensive!) heroes.

Moreover, the flail can prove to be a truly dangerous weapon.

URCHIN

Urchin is definitely not a warrior. However, he is quick and agile. Moreover, hardly anyone pays attention to him. This allows him to complete an important task before the opponent even realizes what is happening.

Gypsy is another inconspicuous character. She is definitely not suited for combat.

However, she is the only common character who can strengthen the team with her divination abilities.

She is inconspicuous, able to quickly assess the situation thanks to her Wits, and has Connections, which are essential for hiring many mercenaries.

Most importantly, however, she has the ability Seduction, meaning she can eliminate an opponent’s character from the game without a fight.

The Burgher is intelligent, well-connected, and… has a rather hefty purse. He can help hire the right people and acquire essential supplies.
 

If needed, he can also put his smallsword to good use.

Although he is not suited for open combat, he is invaluable when it comes to sneaking in, breaking in, or picking someone’s pocket.

If necessary, he can also stab an opponent with a dagger from the shadows.

It’s always good to have connections in the city watch. This character is indispensable when you want to extend the game, for example, when you’re the attacker in battle scenarios.

At the same time, the halberd in his hands becomes a very dangerous weapon.
