Several constructions of flintlock pistols with two rotating barrels appeared in mid 17th century. Such construction made it possible to shoot twice without the need to reload. It was enough to turn the barrels and cock the pistol after the first shot was fired. Such pistols were often made in pairs – such as the pistols from the Skokloster castle exhibits (5749 and 5750).
